The Pro Loco Scarperia, an association constituted in 1998, has its registered office in via dei Bastoni 3 and its administrative office within the Palazzo dei Vicari, in the heart of the historical centre of Scarperia.

The association, a non-profit organisation, is made up of paid-up members and honorary members, who, under the direction of the President, make all decisions regarding the work to be performed.

• the organisation and management of the initiatives and services designed to aid the development of tourism and the cultural, historical, artistic and sporting resources of the zone; it promotes new initiatives, and evaluates the existing ones that are officially recognised by the Admistration of the Commune of Scarperia: L’infiorata, the celebration of the Diotto, and the Exhibition of hand-crafted knives;

• to set in motion new forms of co-operation with all the associations present in the area, as wel as with the technical committees interested in promoting the development of tourism in Scarperia, such as: the Committee for the celebrating of the Diotto, and the Centre of research for Hand-crafted Knives;

• to manage the group of museums, comprising the Palazzo dei Vicari, the Museo dei Ferri Taglienti (the Museum of hand-crafted Knives) and the Bottega del Coltellinaio (the Knifemaker’s workshop): the ticket office, the bookshop, tourist information, guided visits, meetings and didactic workshops;

• to supply the A.P.T. of Florence with the plans involving tourism that it intends to carry out;

• to monitor the flow and welcoming of tourism through the Information Office.
